The Second Cable from North Point.
In August 1882 permission was granted to the Eastern
Extension Telegraph Company to lay two cables down from
North Point to Hung Hom being one cable extra to that
for which permission was granted on the 31st. May 1873.
The Third Cable from North Point.

The Fourth & Fifth Cable from North Point.
On the 22nd. March 1884 permission was granted to the
Eastern Extension Telegraph Company to lay two more cables
down from North Point to Hung Hon, one of which was intended
to work to an office in Kowloon itself and the other a
spare one in case any of the others gave out.

I am directed by the Governor to inform you that Bis
Excellency has been instructed by the Secretary of State
to grant you the concession, prayed for in your letter of
the 19th. July last, to lay another submarine cable between
North Point and Kowloon.
2. This concession is made subject to the general
terms of the Agreement with the Great Northern Company in
1870, and the right is reserved to Government of granting
